YOGA CLASSES | What is Yoga?

Below are descriptions of classes that we offer.  Not all classes are offered all the time so please refer to our schedule tab for our current class schedule.  If you have a request please let us know as that's how we know which classes to add.  Thank you.

Please call or enroll on-line for classes as space is limited. For the 5:30 am classes, you MUST be enrolled by 6:00 pm the night before. Thank You. 

Yoga Basics – Yoga Basics welcomes all levels of ability. Lets bring it back to the basics with calming restorative poses taught with emphasis on alignment, symmetry and technique. Yoga props may be used to help safely open the body, build strength and flexibility and develop the mind-spirit connection. Yoga Basics is a beautiful combination of gentle stretch and work while doing basic yoga poses.

Yoga I/II - Intermediate yoga is designed for those with yoga experience. These classes build on postures in a structured and progressive format as well as introduce more difficult variations.

Vinyasa Yoga – Vinyasa employs the technique of "connecting postures." Sometimes referred to as "flow" yoga, this class focuses on breathing and movement which is almost dance-like. Vinyasa which means “breath-synchronized movement,” your teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This style allows for a lot of variety, but will almost certainly include Sun Salutations. In this class expect movement, stretching, and a workout for your mind, body and spirit.Gentle Yoga - Welcomes all levels of ability.  Calming restorative poses are taught with emphasis on alignment, symmetry and technique.  Yoga props may be used to help safely open the body, build strength and flexibility and develop the mind-spirit connection.

Kundalini Yoga - Kundalini Yoga was brought to the West by Yogi Bhajan in 1968.  It is known as the Yoga of Awareness. Kundalini yoga classes "are a dynamic blend of postures, pranayam, mantra, music and meditation, which teach you the art of relaxation, self-healing and elevation. Balancing body and mind enables you to experience the clarity and beauty of your soul. No previous experience in yoga is required for you to achieve results with your very first class."  Y.B.  All Kundalini classes are suitable for beginning and advanced students, as well as women who are pregnant.   *Please bring a blanket to this class 
Kundalini Yoga is taught in a 6 week series

Prenatal Yoga – Linking yoga postures with the breath, bringing awareness to the mind, body and spirit, and also the spirit of your baby. Prenatal Yoga is conducted in a calm, peaceful environment that will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica. A safe, open community allows you to freely discuss any issues, from discomforts and concerns, to the wonderful new changes your body and baby are experiencing with other pregnant women.
Prenatal Yoga is taught in a 6 week series

Postnatal Yoga – This Yoga class offers a chance for moms to connect with other new moms and dads, and to be a part of a warm, supportive community while helping you regain abdominal and full body strength.  Attention will also be spent improving common postural imbalances that occur during life with baby – to decrease pain and increase your ease of movement.  Moms are welcome to feed baby (by breast or bottle) any time during class in the studio, and to change baby's diaper at any time.
For moms who are feeling fine at 4-6 weeks postpartum. Moms who had a Cesarean-section should consult with their doctor or midwife. Babies can begin Yoga Bonding at any time, and tend to enjoy the class until they start crawling.

Family Yoga - With wide age ranges and levels of ability, this class is fun and especially rewarding. Health begins at home. Family Yoga teaches simple routines, games and partner poses the whole family will love. Ages 5+

Community Yoga – This is our free Yoga class with an option of donation. This is open to ALL levels yoga class.

Intro to Pilates  - This is a beginning level 30min. class conducted on the floor with mats. You will learn the basic principles of pilates, working slowly and correctly to build core strength and flexibility. Other props such as therabands and fitness circles will be incorporated to make your workout more challenging. This Intro class will prepare you for the next pilates class if you choose to stay, mat pilates I/II.

Intro to Reformer Pilates – Intro to Group Reformer 3 week series prepares you for success in Group Reformer Pilates Classes. Includes: 1 Postural Analysis, Intro Mat Pilates Class (Required) and 6 Group Reformer Classes. Please call or email to register for this series.

Pilates Reformer Training - Reformer training is one-on-one pilates training on a specialized table which allows you to increase or decrease resistance to pilates movement. You receive the personal attention of a certified pilates instructor who develops a program designed to fit your body’s needs. You will learn the basic principles of pilates, working slowly and correctly to build core strength and flexibility.

Group Reformer - Pilates Reformer Training in a group class setting. Up to 4 clients in a class. Must call ahead to reserve your spot! pre-requisite of either Mat Pilates or 5 Private Reformer Sessions.

Intro to Gentle Pilates – Introduction to our Moderate Pilates. This is a beginning level 30min. class conducted on the floor with mats. You will learn the basic principles of pilates, working slowly and correctly to build core strength and flexibility. Other props such as therabands and fitness circles will be incorporated to make your workout more challenging. This Intro class will prepare you for the next pilates class, Moderate Pilates. We recommend staying to retain your new knowledge from your intro class. This is a pre-requisite for our Pilates classes.

Gentle Pilates – A Gentle Pilates welcomes all levels of ability. This gentle pilates is taught with emphasis on alignment, symmetry and technique. Pilates props may be used to help safely strengthen the body, build flexibility and develop a strong core with emphasis on the back and abs, This is a head to toe gentle toning. Pre-requisite Intro to Mat Pilates or Intro to moderate Pilates.

Mat Pilates I/II Beginning & Intermediate Pilates – This is a beginner to intermediate class conducted on the floor with mats. Experience new exercise variations at a intermediate paced workout, progress with the class while holding your own true posture in exercises that require greater flexibility, endurance and strength. Intro to Pilates required before taking this class.

Mat Pilates II/III Intermediate & Advanced Pilates – This is an intermediate to advanced level class conducted on the floor with mats. Experience new exercise variations and a faster paced workout, progress to an advanced level, adding in more complicated and challenging exercises that require greater flexibility, endurance and strength. Intro to Pilates required before taking this class.

BELLY DANCE CLASSES

All Belly Dance Classes are taught in an 8 week series

Level 1 Belly Dance with Sedona! 60 mins 8 weeks for $99
Belly Dance is a wonderful way to embrace your femininity, have fun and get a great workout! Sedona's Beginning Belly Dance Class series is perfect for someone brand new to Belly Dance or a more experienced dancer looking to strengthen her technique. We will learn all the basic isolations with strong focus on posture and muscle control. The class will also cover all "foundational" Belly Dance Movements, Step patterns, Shimmy, and Hip work. Along with break-downs of the "technical" aspects of the dance, Sedona will also begin to share it's history and Sacred roots.

Level 2 Belly Dance with Sedona! 60 mins 8 weeks for $99
This class is for those who are looking to dive deeper into the enchanting and powerful art of Belly Dance - you will begin to learn more complex isolation patterns, lovely hip work, traveling steps and movements.  We will continue to strengthen our hip and shoulder shimmies as well as work on exciting shimmy layers.  We will also begin to string movements together to create mini dance combinations and choreographies.  This class will also spend time on overall "dance" and "performance" concepts.  Whether you are looking to perform or not, this class will offer tools to assist you with your musicality, interpretation, and presentation of this magnificent art form. 
And of course in Belly Dance you are ALWAYS learning to express the most BEAUTIFUL you from the inside out!!  Come and connect with your DIVINE FEMININE Power and Beauty with this ancient women's art. 

Level 3 Belly Dance with Sedona! 75 mins 8 weeks for $125
This class is for a more "serious" dancer looking to take her dance to the next level.  We will be working on intermediate level layers, isolation patterns, steps, turns and other advanced techniques for your Belly Dance repertoire.  We will have an extended shimmy session which works on loosening up our shimmy as well as increasing its strength and longevity.  We will conclude class with different combos and overall "dance" concepts which are designed to help with transitions, musicality, interpretation and presentation.

Private Lessons/Classes
We offer private and semi-private belly dance, as well a offer private classes to learn basic belly dance off-site or at the studio. Fun for bachelorette parties, birthdays, showers or just for fun!

Belly Dance Entertainment
We offer belly dance performances for weddings, birthdays, showers, work events and any other occassion you need.  Call for pricing.
